11 loans amounting to 2.94 million USD were provided
by the end of May for investments in construction of cold storage and
procurement of associated equipment for storing fresh fruit and vegetables and
other investments in post-harvest infrastructure in Moldova. The cold storages
will have a total capacity of over 9600 tones and will be used for the storing
and pre-cooling fruit and vegetables.
They will be built by farming households in Dubasari, Edinet, Briceni, Stefan – Voda, Straseni, Criuleni and Causeni rayons and are expected to be ready by the end of this year.

According to the estimates 1 USD of Compact loans causes about 1.74 USD to be invested in post-harvest infrastructure. The number and amount of loans provided from the Compact Credit Facility and the total investments in post-harvest infrastructure are expected to increase significantly by the end of this year.
